As admins, it’s extremely important to be effective communicators. Every facet of our job requires this essential skill, and it’s one we have to continually work on improving throughout our careers. We want to communicate effectively, but many times we fall short.
Have you been accused of being too forceful or direct? Are you passive and afraid to advocate for yourself? Or do you find yourself being passive-aggressive and smiling at someone in the moment, but then speak badly about him or her when they leave your desk?
If you fall into any of these categories then you might not be as great of a communicator as you could be. And that can lead to unhealthy relationships – inside and outside of the office.
To build healthy relationships, you need to be an assertive communicator. Someone who’s clear, direct, respectful, and mature.
