Managing projects means keeping track of a lot of moving parts – tasks, people, deadlines, deliverables – which can often be overwhelming. One of the best ways to reduce that stress is by utilizing procedures.
Many view procedures as a great way to help someone cover for you when you’re out of the office. But documented procedures are actually one of the best safety nets you can put in place for supporting yourself day in and day out. Instead of trying to remember all of the details and moving parts of the projects you’re working on, you can create some thorough checklists, forms, and templates to keep everything organized and moving forward.
Throughout my career, I’ve reused various project management templates over and over, adapting them for each new project as needed. It saved me countless hours of time and unnecessary stress, all because I had a good system in place for keeping things running successfully!
This week, we’re explaining how templates and procedures can make project management easier and more efficient, and how to incorporate them into your next big project on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages. Our feature article also highlights the difference between systems and procedures and why both are necessary for a well-oiled machine.
