Personal Note from Julie: It’s Moving Week…And Time for Some More Focused Self-Care!

May 1, 2015 | Procedures

new-baby-2015It’s moving week — and I’m up to my ears in boxes, packing tape, and bubble wrap! Our movers are loading up all of our belongings, the house is on the market, and we’re getting ready to finally depart for Indianapolis!

As if our two-state move and my husband’s new job wasn’t enough excitement, my sister and her husband welcomed a new baby boy last week! I’m so thrilled to have a new nephew to spoil, and his arrival is only making me more antsy to get on the road to Indiana.

This week, we’ve been sharing advice for admins who are new to the career on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. And I encourage you to share your thoughts and words of wisdom on our social media pages. Also, if you’re new to the profession, please feel free to ask questions!

One of my best pieces of advice for admins – new and experienced alike – is this: Take care of yourself. This is something I’ve been reminded of during all my moving chaos. Self-care is absolutely necessary to stay alive in mission-critical, high-stress situations — whether you’re organizing an event, creating a presentation, or planning travel (something we’ll be talking a lot about in May). This week’s feature article highlights the importance of self-care, and how you can make it a priority in your professional and personal life. If you already have good habits established in this area, be sure to share them with us also. I’m pretty sure I may be able to put them to good use myself in the coming days.

This has been an April I’ll never forget, and I hope it’s been a memorable admin month for you, too!

Supporting your administrative success,

Julie
