Personal Note from Julie: The Powerful Benefits of Volunteering

Apr 3, 2015 | Career Development

2015-new-neighborI have some big news to share with you this week! I’m thrilled to announce that I’m moving to Indianapolis, Indiana!

My husband, Todd, recently accepted a new position in Indy. So we’re packing up our house in Cedar Rapids and heading for our new home in the big city later this month.

It’s certainly going to be a wild month ahead, but we’re very excited for the personal and professional opportunities this move will bring. And the best part is that we’ll be moving closer to family, including my adorable niece, Ellyana!

While I will be focusing on organizing and finalizing details of our move, we still have a lot of fun and informative things planned for Administrative Professionals Month. And we’re kicking things off this week by highlighting the benefits of volunteering for your personal and professional life.

I can personally attest to the powerful impact volunteering can have on an admin’s career. I have volunteered my time with my professional associations and local organizations for several years, and it’s been extremely beneficial to my career advancement. Through my involvement, I learned how to be a better fundraiser, secure sponsorships, and expand my marketing, branding, and communications skills – just to name a few. It’s also helped me meet new people and build my professional network.

Check out this week’s feature article to learn more about the career-boosting benefits of volunteering. You’ll also find a lot of great information, advice, and resources on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages.

The great thing about volunteering is that you never know what kind of impact you’re going to have on the organization and people you’re working with, and those you’re helping – or the impact they may have on you! So I strongly encourage you to get out there and volunteer your time and skills. It’ll do wonders for you personally and professionally.

Supporting your administrative success,

Julie
