Note From Julie: Tap Into All of Your Job Search Options

We’ve looked at various aspects of how to handle an unexpected change in employment this month. We’ve touched on the benefits of using a career coach, how to keep your skills relevant while unemployed, updating and using your professional portfolio, and reading to expand your knowledge and expertise. So that got me thinking about how and where to conduct the job search itself.

The obvious solution for engaging in a job search used to be to open the newspaper and scan through the help wanted ads. And while that is one strategy that can still work, it’s no longer your best strategy when it comes to job hunting. The internet has created countless options for connecting directly with potential employers through social media sites, job boards, and more. Your professional network is one of the best places you can start sharing your news and activating your search. Don’t overlook professional association membership and volunteering opportunities either.

We’ve put together a list of options you should include in your job search strategy for this week’s feature article. And we’re sharing tips and advice on where to look for your next position on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages, too.

Losing a job is a challenging time in one’s career. Creating a plan of attack and taking action daily will make a positive difference in helping you find your new job!
