Note From Julie: October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Oct 6, 2017 | Procedures, Technology

CybersecurityCybersecurity has been a big focus for many people since the massive Equifax data breach was made public. If your personal data has ever been compromised like mine has, the news likely sent chills down your spine. If you have not been a victim of identity theft then count your blessings.

Either way, this was a major wake-up call for all of us to pay attention to what we can and should be doing to protect ourselves and our loved ones from cybercrime.

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. There are things each of us can do to better protect ourselves, our families, and our companies from cyber threats. Many of these things aren’t hard. They just require taking a few extra steps to make sure you’re as protected as possible online and off.

In light of recent events, I am thrilled to have a cybersecurity expert as the speaker for this month’s AdminPro Training Series! Spence Witten presents this jam-packed session, An Admin’s Guide to Cybersecurity, which includes advice on how you can act as the first line of defense in preventing cyber incidents for your company.

Spence explains the risks of using free Wi-Fi, best practices for staying secure on social media, the benefits of two-factor authentication, and how to practice good computer security hygiene to keep yourself, your executive, and your company safe.

After doing a lot of my own research on this topic, I thought I knew quite a bit about cybersecurity. But I still learned a bunch of new things and best practices from this session. I strongly encourage you to check out this AdminPro Training Series session, and make sure you’re doing everything you can to protect yourself, your family, your executives, and your company.

This week’s feature article also highlights five ways to protect yourself and your organization from cybercrime. And we’re sharing lots of tips and resources Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to help you become more cybersecurity savvy!

Supporting your administrative success,

Julie
