It’s a favorite saying of a dear friend that I now repeat as often as she does. And it’s often what pops into my head when I hear the fearful banter among assistants discussing the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace.
Will robots and computers eventually replace administrative professionals? Should assistants use AI tools to help them do their jobs? What skills do we need in the 21st century office to work with AI and still remain valued, integral members of the team?
From my viewpoint, The Innovative Admin™ has nothing to fear and a lot to gain by integrating AI tools into their workplace. The Innovative Admin is proactive. AI is reactive. That immediately puts you at an advantage! In fact, we have a tremendous amount to gain from engaging with this new technology – from increasing efficiency to reducing errors and improving productivity.
We’ve been trying to clone ourselves for years. AI may finally help us figure it out! A lot of AI tools were created to do tasks we don’t want to do ourselves – phone calls, document editing, file searches, email organization, scheduling, transcription, research, etc. AI tools are also providing service at times and in places we can’t always be present, such as after-hours customer support or remote meetings.
Assistants who use AI in their career toolkit will find new ways to add value by putting their effort and intelligence into strategic thinking, problem solving, and expanding their influence at the office.
In this week’s feature article, I talk about several ways AI can make you more efficient, and share some AI tools you may want to take for a test drive!
We’re also explaining how to embrace AI, and highlighting some of the opportunities it can offer admins on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages.
If you’re using AI tools to support your job responsibilities, we’d love to hear about it. Share your AI tools with us at AdminSuccess@AllThingsAdmin.com.
Supporting your administrative success,
Julie Perrine
