As an admin, you know the importance of a well-written, typo-free resume, one that looks professional and effectively conveys your experience, skills, and abilities. However, these days having all this down on a sheet of paper isn’t enough. It needs to be digital.

For those who don’t already have an online resume, LinkedIn is a great place to go digital with your resume. But if you’re looking to take it a step further and create something that’s a bit more visually appealing, these free websites can help you take your resume to the next level!

1. Create.visual.ly – The infographic trend has exploded thanks to sites like Visual.ly, a community platform for data visualizations, and now you can turn your resume into an infographic. Go to create.visual.ly and scroll down the page to Visual Resume by Kelly. Choose a design from five different templates, then log in with your LinkedIn account to transform your resume into an infographic.

2. About.me – This website is a terrific tool for admins to build an online presence, which can be especially beneficial during job searches. It can also serve as a central location for potential employers to find you. Upload your professional photo, and then add your summary, contact information (including links to your social media accounts), and industry keywords to make it easy for potential employers to locate your profile. Boost your page with multi-media elements, such as video clips, where you can do things like answer standard job interview questions online. Preview my about.me page here.

3. VisualCV.com – VisualCV.com allows you to build a visual resume and share it with potential employers. Cut and paste from your current resume to create your VisualCV. Add components like videos, your scanned diploma, and graphs that display your experience and skills set. Then post it to your professional social network or the VisualCV database of employers. You can also design different versions for diverse audiences.

To stand out and branch out, you need a digital resume that catches people’s attention. Use one of these sites to create a visually compelling resume and you’ll not only stand out from a crowd, but you’ll also boost the chances of getting your current or prospective employer’s attention! It’ll also be a great addition to your professional e-portfolio!
