Like it or not, social media is a required component of your administrative toolbox. A recent Jobvite.com survey of recruiters showed 87% of recruiters are using LinkedIn to evaluate candidates when hiring, followed by 43% who are using Facebook and 22% who are using Twitter. And one of my favorite stats – 11% are viewing a candidate’s blog. Not only that, but social media and a blog are both fantastic ways for you to brand yourself as a skilled and accomplished professional – whether you’re on the job hunt or not.
That’s why I am so passionate about helping you create a comprehensive professional portfolio strategy that includes a print portfolio, social portfolio (like LinkedIn) and a digital portfolio (your own blog-type site) to showcase your skills, abilities, and career accomplishments!
If you missed our Spotlight Your Career free webinar and five-day challenge earlier this month, it’s available to throughout April as our gift to you for Admin Appreciation Month. The webinar explains what a comprehensive professional portfolio strategy is, and why it’s crucial to your career plan. The five-day challenge then takes you step-by-step through the creation process of your professional portfolio. And with your professional portfolio complete, updating your LinkedIn profile and creating your digital portfolio is much easier.
I’m also super excited to announce that we’ll be re-launching our digital portfolio development course in May. Look for more details on this in the next couple weeks.
This week, we’re sharing lots of ways to use social media to showcase your admin skills, build your personal brand, and tips for polishing your profiles on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages. And our feature article specifically addresses using LinkedIn as a proactive measure in being prepared for any career change – expected or not. Preparation is a key to success. Social media is one tool that can help you be ready for the opportunities that lie ahead!
Supporting your administrative success,
